K.C. College of Education holds Workshop cum Exhibition of Teaching aids

A two day workshop on teaching aids concluded at K.C. College of Education today. During the workshop the teachers incharge of various teaching groups provided orientation to the students regarding the preparation of teaching aids by making use of waste things and low cost materials. Subsequently each group was given the task of preparing models on the topics assigned to them. In the concluding session an exhibition of the work of trainees was organized. Prof. G.Q. Sheikh, OSD to minister of Higher education, Labour and Employment J&K state was the chief guest on the occasion. He along with Principal Dr. Shamima Bano and teaching faculty inspected the projects and appreciated the efforts of the students. The questions regarding the subject were also very well answered by the students.

K.C. College of Education organizes Blood Donation Camp

The NSS wing of K.C. College of Education in collaboration with Govt. Medical College and Indian Red Cross Society organized a blood donation camp in its premises today. On the occasion a total of 15 students including teachers of the college donated blood.


Prior to that the dignitaries who spoke on the occasion and motivated the students for blood donation, the noblest cause on this Earth, were Mr. Suresh Sharma, Secretary Red Cross Society, Dr. Farooq Ahmed Wani, Lecturer Blood Bank GMC and Dr. Shamima Bano, Principal K.C. College of Education. The GMC team was headed by Dr. Farooq Ahmed Wani, Lecturer Blood Bank GMC. The other members were Dr. Mitu Dogra PG student IIIrd year, lab. technicians Narender, Upkar, Surinder Kumar and Ashok.

Alumni Meet 2011 – 12 held at K.C. College of Education

An Alumni Meet was held at K.C. College of Education in the college premises today. During the event the interactive sessions entitled ‘Meet the Alumni’ were held wherein Ram Prakash and Neha Bakshi both students of 2009-10 batch and presently working as teachers interacted with the trainees of the present batch. They shared their experiences as students of the College and talked about the rich prospects of B.Ed. course.


Another alumnus Pramod Sharma, a post graduate teacher in Maths serving in K.C. Public School also spoke on the occasion later a detailed discussion was held to further promote the academic excellence and healthy practices in the college. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Shamima Bano, Principal of the college highlighted the role of alumni as valuable resource for the upliftment of the college. Taranjeet Kaur, lecturer presented the note of thanks.


A week long sports meet organized by K.C.College of education which started on 22-02-12 concluded here today at the college ground with great fervour. Various sports events, indoor as well as outdoor were held during the meet. They included Badminton, Kho- Kho, Tabletennis, Cricket, Carom and Volleyball.


On the concluding day, various athletic events were held. There included 100 meter race, 200 meter race, short put and long jump. In 100 meter race Nitin Singh and Anu Devi stood first in boys and girls category respectively. In 200 mt race Mangat Ram and Lovely Kumari got first position in their respective categories. In shortput event Kanika Slathia clinched the top position in girls category while Ashwani Kumar was first among the boys. In long jump event Nitin Singh and Lovely Kumari got top honours in their respective categories.

Speaking on the occasion the Principal highlighted the importance of sports in life in view of today’s sedentary life style and stressful working conditions.Prof.Puja Sharma , the teacher in charge and Sh. Sita Ram ,Physical training Instructor along with his team of workers helped in organising.

KC College organises an Inter College Debate Competition

KC College of education organized an Inter College Debate Competition on the topic “Student’s Evaluation of Teachers-yes/No”

On the occasion, Prof GQ Sheikh ,OSD to Minister for Higher Education , was the chief guest while Sudershan Mahajan , Chairman,KC Educational Society, faculty members and students were also present.


While speaking, Taranjeet Kaur, Principal of the college presented welcome address and highlighted the achievements of the students in curricular and co curricular activities.
Students from various colleges participated in the debate competition and expressed their views in favour and against the topic. Students of the host college also presented cultural extravaganza on the occasion, which was highly applauded by the audience with thundering applause.

Dev Raj Sharma, Principal ,KCETT and Dr P N Koul ,Principal ,Government Degree College,Dharmari,Reasi, were jury members, who adjudged the performance of the students.

Sunnia Gupta and Anita Kumari from NSM College of Education claimed first and second positions respectively while the third position was conferred to Tania Jamwal of Sai Shyam College of Education.

While speaking Prof GQ Sheikh, lauded the efforts of the college for organizing such a competition. He impressed upon the students to work hard and with dedication to achieve their desired goals.

The whole programme was compared by Priya Bhat while Tarnjeet Kour,Principal of the host college presented vote of thanks.

NSS wing of the K.C College of Education observed Valedictory Function of Ten Day Camp

The NSS wing of the K.C College of Education observed valedictory function of ten day camp. Dr Jasbir Singh NSS Coordinator ,University of Jammu was the chief guest , Sh.Ved Goswami Financial advisor KC Educational; Society was the guest of honour on this occasion. The volunteers staged a variety programme comprising poetry recitation, seminar and skit entitled “Ill effects of Urbanization”, highlighting the importance of conserving the environment for sustainable development.

Dr. Jasbir Singh appreciated the efforts of the volunteers and stressed upon the need of increasing the involvement of student community in National service programme, he also recommended prizes for various competitions held in college premises during NSS camp. Earlier Ms. Taranjeet Kour, Principal ,K C College of education presented the welcome address. Ms Tamana Pandohi NSS Programme Officer presented a detailed account of the activities undertaking during the camp which included an environment rally, Quiz programme, slogan writing competition, plantation and campaigning regarding the various aspects of the theme in the Udaywala slum area.

“Communal Harmony Campaign and Fund Raising Week”

The NSS wing of the K.C College of Education observed valedictory “Communal Harmony Campaign and Fund Raising Week” from November 19-25, 2011, in the college premises. In this connection Flag Day was celebrated and a seminar on the topic “Communal Harmony and National Integration – need of the hour” was organized on 25th November. Sh Ved Goswami, former Chairman International Airport Authority was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Sh Sudershan Mahajan, Chairman of the college was the guest of honour. The volunteers spoke on the various aspects of the topic and highlighted the intense need to strengthen communal harmony.

Ms.Tamana Pandohi , Programme Officer,NSS presented a detailed report of the proceedings of the week which included painting cum poster making competition , slogan writing competition, a skit based on the factors leading top communal disharmony and poetry recitation.


Besides the volunteers were provided proper orientation regarding raising of fund by the programme officer. She also apprised the gathering that as a part of usual practice. The collected money will be sent to National Foundation for Communal Harmony(NFCH)- New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief guest urged the volunteers to contribute whole heartedly towards the Nobel Mission of promoting National consciousness. Earlier the Principal of the college in her welcome address stressed upon the need of conducting such programmes to bring in the desired attitudinal changes among the students.

The vote of Thanks was presented by Kanika Salathia , student of the college.


NSS camp on the theme “Save Environment for Sustainable development”

The NSS wing of the college took out a rally as a part of ongoing ten day NSS camp on the theme “Save Environment for Sustainable development”. It covered the Udhaywala slum as well as the Muthi area. It was taken out in view of the ongoing environment month being observed from 19th November to 18th December, The rally was flagged off by the principal of the college, speaking on the occasion she highlighted the role of youth in conserving the environment.


The volunteers carrying placards, wearing T-Shirts with eco-friendly messages, shouting eco-friendly slogans went around the market and lanes of the area. At places, the volunteers interacted with on lookers, distributed self-made paper bags to the local shopkeepers and sensitized them not to use polythene bags. The volunteers made the people stop the wastage of water by closing the running public taps and convince them to say goodbye to cigarettes and polythene bags.


The rally was headed by NSS Programme officer Ms.Tamana Pandohi . She was accompanied by other lecturers of the college .Ms.Sunyana Padha, Ms.Deepshikha Gupta, Ms.Shaveta Gupta ,Ms.Dharmpreet Kaur, Ms.Puja Sharma ,Ms.Rakhi Sharma, Ms.Bharti Sharma , Ms.Ruchi Charak.


Extension Lecture on the Theme “KNOW AIDS FOR NO AIDS“

An Extension Lecture on the Theme “KNOW AIDS FOR NO AIDS “was organized by the NSS Wing of KC College of Education, Jammu as an awareness programme about HIV/AIDS in which Dr.Arti Bakshi,Professor and Head, Department of Psychology, University of Jammu was the worthy resource person. She is working for the global theme “Zero Infection, Zero Death and Zero Discrimination” and is faculty incharge GFATM(Global Fund to fight against Aids Tuberculosis Malaria) under project “Saksham”.Other dignitaries present were Shri Sudershan Mahajan,Chairman KC Educational Society and Sh V.P.Goswami,Financial advisor cum Administrator,K.C Educational society. All the worthy guests were given a warm welcome by Ms.Tamana Pandohi, NSSProgramme Officer. The formal welcome address was given by the Principal along with the Presentation of bouquets.

Dr. Bakshi spoke at length about the fatal disease spreading like a wild fire. She insisted on voluntary testing and voluntary donation as a means for early detection and reduction of HIV infected patients .She gave the present stastical status of this deasese. She insisted upon the role of counselors in helping the HIV infected patients lead a normal life. During the interactive session the learned speaker cleared the doubts of the students.
